About the Artist
Jacques Mollentze is a Cape Town–based artist, designer, and maker whose practice explores stillness, materiality, intimacy, and the connection between people and place.
Working across painting, hand-built ceramics, photography, and artist-led design, his work is rooted in quiet observation and intentional creation.
While Jacques engages with various creative disciplines, his primary focus remains on fine art and ceramic practice. Through original works and ongoing series, he explores conceptual narratives shaped by the natural world, human emotion, ritual, and personal reflection.
His approach is deeply meditative, viewing art as a space for presence and transformation. Whether through oil paintings, watercolours, sculptural ceramic forms, or immersive creative installation, his work invites a slower and more contemplative way of seeing.
Alongside his studio practice, Jacques also works within the fields of visual identity, art direction, and spatial storytelling, bringing an artist’s perspective into carefully selected design collaborations.
Based in Cape Town, South Africa, his work continues to evolve through exhibitions, workshops, collections, and multidisciplinary creative projects.
